What is Covered
Providence financial assistance is available to cover medically necessary services provided by Providence Health System in Oregon, including hospital care, outpatient services, and services at Providence Medical Group clinics.
Government and Community Programs
Uninsured patients may be eligible to apply for other programs to get financial help. We will help you find out whether these government and community programs (such as the Oregon Health Plan, Medicare and Medicaid) can help cover your medical bills.
A Providence financial counselor will work with you to determine eligibility for government and community programs that may help cover medical expenses. The counselor also can assist you in applying for these programs.
Discounts for Uninsured Patients
Providence provides a discount to patients who don’t have health insurance coverage. This discount changes annually, and the amount depends on where in Oregon the services are received.
To confirm your eligibility and have the discount applied to your account, please contact a business office representative.
Financial Assistance Program
Who can use this program
Providence may be able to help uninsured patients who have limited incomes, live within the communities we serve and are unable to pay their Providence medical bills.
What to do
Fill out a financial assistance form and return it to the business office. You also will be asked to give us copies of income tax returns, property tax statements, pay stubs or other information about your household finances.
How to get a form
Financial assistance forms can be picked up at any Providence hospital; printed off this Web site (Forms located at the bottom of this page); or mailed to you if you contact us. A financial counselor can work with you in filling out the financial questionnaire and completing the entire application process.
Once Providence has all the requested information from you, we will determine whether or not you qualify for financial assistance. If we have questions, we will call you. You will be notified in writing about the results.
Payment Plan Options
Even after the discounts and financial assistance, you still may owe some money for your medical bills. We will work with you to set up a payment plan. For more information about getting help with your Providence medical bills, please call or visit a financial counselor at your local Providence hospital or call our business office. We can give you any forms you need and can help you apply for assistance.
