Coalition Internships or Volunteer Opportunities

The Coalition uses interns and volunteers on a regular basis. Currently our interns provide administrative and research support. They work in Research, Grant Writing and Program Support. We couldn’t provide as much as we do without them!
Undergraduate Internships
We are always accepting resumes. Internships start on a revolving basis.
If you are interested in an internship with the Coalition of Community Health Center please send a resume and cover letter outlining what you are interested in achieving while you work with the Coalition.
Below are some of the opportunities at the Coalition:
Assistant to Executive Director
Support community health and gain valuable skills while assisting the Executive Director in the day-to-day management of the Coalition of Community Health Clinics. This position will support the ED in a variety of administrative tasks, while gaining experience and perspective on the operations of a Community Health Coalition.
Required Skills: Strong administrative support skills, strong writing, experience with office systems and willingness to help in a variety of ways. Some support for Program Coordinators may be included.
Duties: Correspondence, data entry, general office support, communications support, information dissemination, and other general duties.
Schedule: Variable
Referral Resource Assistant
Provide ongoing development and updating of the online Referral Resource Manual. This digital resource for member clinics has extensive listings, which must be continuously updated. This experience will provide the intern with excellent knowledge of community resources. Website updating also required. Will train the right candidate
Required Skills: Excellent communication skills, accuracy, fast learner, hard worker.
Duties: communicate with community agencies about resources for low-income uninsured patients, website editing. Reports to Program Coordinator.
Schedule: 8-20 hrs/week – Flexible Schedule
Project Access Assistants
Project Access NOW (Northwest Oregon Washington) and Project Access MULTNOMAH COUNTY are working to pool donated medical services & resources for the uninsured _based on a successful national model_ Both projects are seeking interns, Level I and Level II.
Level I duties may include; making specialty referrals for safety net clinics, project development support, administrative, recruitment and meeting support. The assistants will provide support in many areas and learn about the Project Access model. Prefer 240 Hour Internship placements.
Required Skills: The best candidate for this position will have good writing, program and administrative support skills, as well as good customer service skills.
Duties: may include operational duties -making medical specialty referrals for coalition clinic patients, program development, recruitment support, meeting support, and/or general administrative support to the Project Access Manager.
Schedule: 8-20 hrs/week – Flexible Schedule
Level II interns will take leadership roles in program development and must have some program experience or educational background. Areas of focus may include recruitment, volunteer management, patient coordination, website management, marketing or data analysis & evaluation. (e.g. The current Level II Intern has been developing the patient eligibility and enrollment piece of the new program.) Prefer 240 Hour Internship placements.
Required Skills: The best candidate for this position will have excellent writing, program and administrative skills and experience.
Duties: may include operational duties – but will include a leadership role in a wide option of program development areas.
Schedule: 8-20 hrs/week – Flexible Schedule
Graduate Internships
We have many opportunities for Graduate level interns in program design, program evaluation and more.

Professional Volunteers
We are currently seeking a Master’s of Social Work volunteer. This position would supervise graduate level social work students who are placed within clinics performing referral coordination and patient supports services. Up to 3 hours a week required with flexible schedule. Must have a Master’s of Social Work degree for 2 years and be willing to support students in their field placements. These are unpaid positions. However, they are excellent learning opportunities and can provide valuable experience for pursuing a career in community health.
